All of which sound excellent, and going by what I've read on this forum will be surprised if any other vinyl versions sound better. Location: Ontario. Wrote this up on another ELO post a while ago and cut and pasted here. The first post refers to Discovery. I just found a UK with the poster too. And what a poster it is! I've had a run on cheap UK copies recently and couldn't pass on a mint Japanese press cheap too. The Japanese is dead last. This is the pressing that came with the poster and hype sticker, for what that's worth.
The mention of Eldorado made me think of the startling differences between the sound of the first UK and second UK press. By far the most dramatic difference in sound between two pressings I've ever heard.
The Warner Brothers press is so astonishingly better, the second press sounding absolutely dull and lifeless. Floyd Crazy , Oct 31, Location: Louisiana. I've just ordered a UK Warner Bros palm tree of Eldorado to replace my old crackly US UA copy, which I'm not too happy with as is mentioned in one of my above old posts, and I'm talking about sonics here not the crackling from not taking proper care of the record back in the day.
I have not the slightest doubt that the WB palm tree will sound better and will post my findings next week after it arrives. My vinyl set-up has been upgraded since my above posts and earlier today I happen to have played my UK WB palm tree copy of On The Third Day for the first time on this set-up and if my new WB Eldorado sounds anywhere near as good then I'll be a happy chap. The seller reckons it's near mint condition, but I've heard that said too many times in the past!
