They were introduced to America as the backup band for Led Zeppelin. A big, big, mistake. Cartoone's music was nothing remotely like Led Zeppelin's. Had they been introduced separately as they should have been then Cartoone might have been what they should have become, a sensation like Led Zeppelin.

Atlantic records is to blame for this. Take a listen this music and I feel you will agree with me, it is amazing music. I'm glad to see this finally show up on Amazon. I bought it in 70 and used to listen to it on occasion. After a while it faded into the background and got lost on my album shelf.

Jump forward 37 years and I burned it to CD. On my long commute to and from work, I can concentrate on the music as I drive across the desert. For the first time, I was able to really get into the music on this album. I like Derek Kreigan's voice with that raspy quality. My favorite song is Knick Knack Man, but some of the others are pretty good too. This is pretty good music, nothing that breaks any molds, but still good. When I first re-listened to it, some of the songs sounded kind of flat, in that they just didn't seem quite done After many repeated listens, I've picked up on the nuances and charm of each track and they all fit nicely together.

I wouldn't want to see any of it change. This music doesn't blow me away, but it is still pretty good. I heard these guys did a second album that never got released. Last Mango in Paris. Hot Water. Legend [Vinyl] Audio CD. Abbey Road Anniversary [LP] Harry Styles This item will be released on May 12, The food: The fried chicken was ok but could be more crunchy.

I will definitely go back for more when I'm craving greens and don't have the patience to stir a pot all day. The yams were nothing to write home about. They were extremely sweet which is about right, lol but there was no real depth of flavor. Just one note and that's no fun. Still need to go back to try the Mac n Cheese. I have been wanting to try The Coast Cafe for a while, and so glad I finally did! It also came with a cornbread muffin, which was great.

The chicken was deliciously seasoned, crispy even delivered! The ribs were also delicious. I could barely even find the bone in a good way , it was easily to delicately pull out of the meat in-between bites. Mac and cheese and collards were great - the collard greens were very juicy and perhaps slightly salty, but delicious nonetheless.

I look forward to returning to The Coast Cafe soon! The Coast Cafe is a casual, cozy neighborhood spot. The service is friendly, and it was cool to sit inside and see the regulars come in and chat.

The combo comes with a cornbread muffin, and we ordered a slice of sweet potato pie because obviously. All the reviews say this, but the fried chicken is a MUST. The pork ribs were super tender, and the mac n cheese with breadcrumb topping was a huge hit. The sweet potato pie with flaky crust and well-balanced, sweet filling is the perfectly satisfying way to top off the most comforting of meals. See all photos from Cristina R. We are thrilled to hear you loved our food, we hope to see you soon!

Fried chicken, Mac n cheese, collard greens -- stellar. Delivery took a long time Uber couldn't find a delivery driver but the food arrived hot. Support black-owned business! The food was good here but unfortunately by the time it was given to us it was super cold. They didn't notify us that there was no Mac and cheese when we put in the order only to arrive and find out that they had no more Mac and cheese. They told us it would be a 30 min wait and we decide to not wait and just get the rest of what we got.

When they have us the food it was really cold. Really disappointed. I was looking forward to enjoying this place. The Coast Cafe is a wonderful business right down the street from my house. How lucky am I? Their fried chicken is soooooooo good They also give you a piece of cornbread which is yummy. Not too sweet and nice and moist. The prices are reasonable. The staff is very friendly. Excellent down home cooking in the heart of Cambridge.

Bravo, Coast Cafe. You are wonderful indeed! Food was incredible! I got the Fried chicken thigh meal with candied yams and collard greens as sides.

Came with cornbread too! The chicken arrived on time and was still crispy. I wanted to sleep for 12 hours after finishing. The only real downside was the wait, I know people mentioned that it can take mins but we waited almost 50 minutes before our food came out. Would come again for sure and just hope wait isn't as long next time.

We apologize for the long wait that is something we are currently trying to improve. We look forward to seeing you again!

I ordered through Uber Eats since I couldn't go in person due to my schedule. Found this restaurant online and through word of mouth from my friends. I most definitely recommend it!

I was raised in a Carribean household so I usually don't eat out a lot, I'm really glad I found this restaurant! I had the chicken thighs and for my side, mac along with yams. I also would recommend the Jerk Chicken patty! The seasoning is just perfect. My mom tried some and even she said it's really good and that's rare since my mom is very hard to impress.

I love supporting fellow black owned businesses and I am glad I found this restaurant. Reviews like yours is what keeps us going!

I visited considering the rave reviews. I was highly disappointed for one the rice and black eye peas were burnt you could taste it, the fried chicken had a weird aftertaste, and the ribs were tender but lack sauce. Only the collard greens and macaroni and peas were decent. I will not go back I could've stayed in Boston and get better soul food than here I wasted my time visiting the restaurant! I apologize for your experience and I hope you are willing to give us another try! If so, please give your name when you arrive and I would like to speak with you personally about your experience.

In all areas it was a track album that was sequenced as follows: Side 1: 1. Natural Born Loser [Track 8, Disc 5] 2.

Mercenary Man [Track 4, Disc 2] 3. Goin' Down [Track 6, Disc 5] 4. Keep On Rockin' [Track 3, Disc 5] 2. Ten Feet Tall [Track 1, Disc 5] 3. Don't Do That [Track 13, Disc 4] 5. The glossy clamshell box is pretty and the card repro sleeves cool - but it's the page booklet that wows. Almost all of the inner pages are festooned to the right with blocks of eight rare 7" single picture sleeves from around the world - that's eight per page - a serious collection of rarities indeed!

MIKE GENT offers up great liner notes on the frustrating history of the band who charted four UK singles many more in Europe - acknowledging that none of the three LPs did any real business which eventually saw a disillusioned Brian Johnson quit to become a car-repair man thinking his shot at Rock 'n' Roll fame was over - how wrong was he. As well as pictures of the band Brian Johnson on Vocals, Vic Malcolm on Guitar, Tom Hill on Bass and Brian Gibson on Drums - there's a very tasty two-page centre spread of original sheet music, a cardboard cut-out of the London Routemaster Red Bus would send their bands out on tour in and more picture sleeves not seen in the principal text.

Although the inner gatefold for "Don't Be Fooled By The Name" isn't reproduced on the card sleeve a minor blip - each CD is a picture disc of the cover art and with the fab colour booklet - you'd have to say that some real effort was put in here.

Let's get to the music Better is the guitar-chug of "You Got It". The remix of "Don't Do It" is awful and just sounds wrong while the re-do of "Keep On Rockin'" isn't a whole lot better. The posthumous "Brian Johnson and Geordie" sees all the best Geordie tracks with huge echoed drums added into the Eighties mix while a floating synth tries to make them topical sounding.

In truth there's a lot of very dated cack on album numbers 3 and 4 with number 5 being all but unlistenable in places - too much of it doing a massive disservice to the first two flushes of Geordie vinyl magic from and But there's also no doubt that 7T's and Cherry Red are to be praised for making this hard to find music available again to fans and newcomers alike - and in such a top class presentation too See all reviews from the United States.

The other two are an after-the-band-had-split compilation LP called "No Good Woman" issued by EMI Sweden in with outtakes, re-recordings and stragglers - and finally a fifth disc called "Brian Johnson and Geordie Revisited" that features later re-records.

As well as pictures of the band Brian Johnson on Vocals, Vic Malcolm on Guitar, Tom Hill on Bass and Brian Gibson on Drums - there's a very tasty two-page centre spread of original sheet music, a cardboard cut-out of the London Routemaster that Red Bus Records would send their bands out on tour in and more picture sleeves not seen in the principal text. Quality-wise the next set of three CDs offer up a ragged mix of songs to say the least.

The remix of "Don't Do It" is awful and just sounds wrong - while the re-do of "Keep On Rockin'" isn't a whole lot better. The obviously exploitive "Brian Johnson and Geordie" LP sees all the best Geordie tracks remixed with largely dire results. Natural Born Loser 9. Strange Man I enjoyed this cd box set.. I'd recommend this to anyone who's into glam hard rock Keep On Rockin' And this is the place to do it A version of those re-recordings was issued on Red Bus Records in many territories after Johnson's global success with the Australian rockers and their mega "Back In Black" album of July — CD5 even containing what appears to be Previously Unreleased Versions - songs only available here.

On a limited number of Mellow Gold 12" vinyl albums, one can hear a version with an added stanza, which is inserted between the first and second verses of the standard Mellow Gold version.

According to an interpretation by Whiskeyclone. The first verse describes a city, which, despite being decrepit and dirty, is filled with shopping malls. In the second verse, Beck expresses resentment towards what he sees as the commercialism of major record labels focused on record sales and money, rather than artistic creativity.

Nashville, five young girls teach themselves their instruments playing along to the radio. Initially named 'The Pivots' and by the end of '67 christened as The Feminine Complex, they were playing out and developing a local following including radio and television appearances.

They created their own versions of popular songs, a style that reflected their need to express their own experience of girlhood. Gender bending 'boys' songs' they simply changed the lyrics, modifying the major characters and pronouns creating a space for themselves inside the music where they were able to become the agents of their own wishes, needs and desires.

Come '68, they appeared on NBC's nationally syndicated Showcase '68, hosted by Lloyd Thaxton paving way to their cult status. It is not allegorical to say that in some way, they widened the entrance to the historical vacuum that a generation later would come to be filled by Riot Grrrl and rock 'n' roll camps for girls.

The Feminine Complex were not just a good band because they were girls, or because they were the first girls. They are a good band because they are. Lucky for us, we have these recordings, so we can continue to hear why. Hide And Seek Now I Need You Are You Lonesome Like Me? Many of the early albums were reissued later, using the later label styles. Some albums were reissued in electronic stereo. We have listed the albums' stereo availability when first issued. We know of no albums originally issued in mono only that were subsequently reissued in true stereo; Chess was notoriously prone to rechanneled stereo, both before and after the sale to GRT. We would appreciate any additions or corrections to this discography.

Just send them to us via e-mail. Should you be interested in contacting MCA or acquiring albums listed in this discography which are all out of print , we suggest you see our "Frequently Asked Questions" page and follow the instructions found there. This story and discography are copyright , , , by Mike Callahan. On stereo releases, a gold label with black printing was used, with the same graphics. During this time, some issues used dark blue labels with silver printing near left ; graphics were the same.

These were the original labels on to approximately , but also appeared sporadically on original albums as late as LP Promotional labels were white with black printing, the graphics were the same as the black label. Many of the early promotional offerings also were pressed in limited-edition multi-color vinyl, as shown at near left. At about LP, Chess began transitioning away from the old label style. The first step was a change to a label with "CHESS" across the top instead of down the left side, with a chess knight used as a crest.

At first, this label was black, with gold letters and a red-white-blue-gold color scheme for the crest. These "crest" labels were used for a very few issues, from about LP to about LP Possibly when they ran out of the label blanks for the multicolor crest labels, an all-blue label with silver print was used, with the crest design but without the full color. These silver-and-blue labels were probably used in lieu of having the expensive crest multicolor labels reprinted, since they were changing the label design soon anyway, to the "fade" design shown below.

Just after the blue and silver crest label, an aqua and white "transition" label was used far left on LP- , with the same design that would become the standard starting in late , but without the multicolor letters in the label name. This "fade" design was also used for the Checker and Cadet labels, virtually the only difference being the label name.

This compilation replacing 's It's Christmas Time Again , which collected the label's scattered Christmas singles for the first time is at its strongest when it's uptempo and nasty — meaning you won't complain that both Albert King and Mack Rice do versions of "Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin'. The title is a misnomer: this collection is cobbled together from a Jones Christmas album, a Wynette Christmas album, and some holiday duets they recorded while married in the early '70s.

But the songs belong together, even if the singers didn't: two of country music's most beautiful voices taking turns singing lonely Christmas laments. Wynette's performance of "White Christmas" is just as melancholy as Jones's "Lonely Christmas Call," making this the perfect album for nursing a holiday heartbreak. Before CBS aired the first Peanuts animated special in , they thought it would flop.

The executives hated the choppy animation, the real kids reading the lines, the melancholy tone unsweetened by a laugh track, Linus reciting a Biblical passage, and not least, this piano jazz soundtrack.

Now this music evokes the show, which in turn evokes your own childhood: while "Christmas Time Is Here" is wistful and sad, there's no happier Christmas music than "Linus and Lucy. In , however, composer Irving Berlin was so angered by it, he had his staff call radio stations around the country to try to get it pulled. This record didn't just pioneer the idea of rock versions of Christmas classics, it deservedly became the bestselling holiday album of all time.

He also released 20 other full-length albums during that five-year span. Recorded in but then out of print for decades, this is a forgotten classic: Christmas-themed gospel sung by three amazing sisters the mighty Mavis Staples was only 23 , backed with just organ, drums, and "Pops," their father, playing funky electric guitar.

The Staples' first pop hits were still years away, but they already had talent and passion to spare. Regardless of your religious beliefs, when you hear "The Savior Is Born," you'll want to get up and testify. O Little Town of Bethlehem. Jolly Old Saint Nicholas.

Whats the Difference - Hero Fisher - Delivery (Vinyl, LP)

A moving coil MC cartridge is, in a way, the opposite of a moving magnet cartridge. Instead of connecting magnets to the end of the stylus within the cartridge body, two small coils are used instead.

The coils are smaller than their magnet counterparts and weigh much less, giving the stylus more agility when navigating the constantly changing record grooves. In general, moving coil cartridges can trace surfaces better due to the lower mass, which results in greater detail, improved accuracy, and less distortion of sound. One disadvantage of using a moving coil cartridge is that it generates a smaller voltage, so the MC cartridge quite often requires a secondary preamplifier sometimes known as a head amp.

The head amp increases the voltage enough to be picked up by a phono input on a stereo component. Not a bad direct drive turntable, Audio Technica has a great reputation in terms of the quality of its cartridges. The addition of a USB output adds value to the package.

Other features include three speeds at 33, 45 and 78rpm and a removable hinged dust cover. Try listening to the deck with and without the cover. Removing it should improve the sound. Of course, it also includes a selectable internal stereo phono amplifier. In fact, it is powered from USB which means that it is ideal as a mobile unit if you need to do your digitising away from home base where power supply sockets are a premium.

Build quality is superb too. Great sound quality and plug-an-go ability. Yes it is expensive but if you want to capture the best quality audio that you possibly can then think carefully about this box. Indeed, it will actually also output at sample rates of In addition, it will also output to DSD.

Vinyl is also more sensitive to heat, humidity, scratches and dust. A collection of vinyl records must be stored in a controlled environment to prevent degradation. The advent of CD-R and CD-RW formats, which, rather than being factory-stamped, use photosensitive dyes to allow for writing by capable disc drives, has opened the door for anyone with a modern computer to create their own CDs at a very cheap cost. Digital audio can be shared easily and instantly, which has led to a major decentralization of the entire music business.

Now amateurs can digitally record music, create CDs, and sell the music directly. The process of printing vinyl discs and recording high-quality analog audio remains largely in the hands of experts, as the required equipment is expensive. If you're beguiled by the vintage charm of vinyl records, or curious about the sound quality, Rick Vugteveen's presentation would be a great place to learn about vinyl records and maybe even begin a collection:.

Amazon has a list of best selling record players along with a huge collection of current and popular best selling vinyl records. The CD format was established by a collaboration between Philips and Sony, and became commercially available in Ironically, many of the early adopters of the new digital technology were audiophiles and classical music lovers - the same niche of buyers that is now associated with the vinyl resurgence.

Sales of audio CDs have been declining in recent years, mostly due to the growth of music downloads. After WWII, 33 and 45 rpm microgroove records became available. So the renewed interested in vinyl gives them another something to sell with relatively high margins although not as high as CDs.

For some musicians, the revenue gained from vinyl sales on tour may be the difference between having a tour in the red or in the black. Yea, pretty much this. On the other side of the argument, people calling it a fad or whatever need to chill out.

Who cares? People keep using the word quality in regards to vinyl, even though all the professionals audio and mastering engineers are pretty unanimous that digital has a much higher fidelity. Vinyl is more like that person who is grandfathered in to drive horse pulled carriages around the city, for all intent purposes should be dead, but still kicking around just because its that cool and important.

While the chart appears to make its comeback look meager and unimportant, its actually incredible. Vinyl and its whole creation, of recording and sound, spurned many a thing and a whole damn industry in and of itself, so its an incredible invention and one likely to remain around for a long long time and not just some romantic resurgence by hipsters or whatever it is…. Think of the first person that actually thought of and invented that thing, who the heck ever figured out how to do all that stuff, its mind blowing when you really think about it and try and pull yourself back into their shoes, its incredible stuff that we just toss aside as rudimentary….

No, I remember the story from elementary school…Benjamin Franklin went outside during a thunderstorm, flew a kite with a key tied to the string and BAM…the record player was invented. I deliver newspapers, milk men are delivering at the same time. And 1 out of 5 of those records is reflected in your graph. But I would disagree on all 3 points. Used record sales existed when records were the dominant medium too, that never went away. It really has nothing to do with this discussion.

I would suspect that majority of vinyl sales back then accounted mostly from new record sales, because 33rpm was relatively a new format then. Now, used records from these days take the majority of the market. Not entirely true: To the extent that used sales help to keep hard product music retailers in business, the volume of these sales do have an ongoing impact on the music business as a whole, just as they do in the book business. Or are hard product retailers now irrelevant to the music business as well?

I would submit that while they are less relevant than in the past, they still have a role to play, as they help to keep the most energized and passionate music consumers connected to that endeavor.

New Vinyl is the same. Not to pick nits, but those used items were counted when they were initially distributed. In London for example I reckon that makes up a huge percentage of the number of people buying records.

Nice hobby for many, little money for music and musicians. This is ridiculous. Old modes of production are almost always embedded inside of new ones See e.
